On a beautiful fall day...

Finished Unit 1 NYIP Professional Photography Course

Unit 1 only took me about a week to complete (maybe even less). I mean the theory part. I passed test and now I'm working on my project.
I need photographs to demonstrate skills: slow/fast shutter speed, wide aperture (bokeh) and great (shallow) dept of field.

Also I have ordered new lens Nikon 50mm f/1.8G AF-S NIKKOR FX (they should go as 75mm on my Nikon D3100 because it's crop sensor DX)
as well as Zeikos macro filters 52mm +1,+2,+4,+10 close up, some 6-point star filter 58mm (for new lens), adapter from 58 to 52 mm (so I can fit my macro filters to my new prime lenses), 66" Targus tripod (should be enough for now, will see if I decide to buy professional one later). One of my instructors said it's better to buy one expensive pro tripod made out of carbon for a few hundred $$$ than to change a cheap one every now and then. He also mentioned that one good tripod will last many, many years. But I think I need to try out inexpensive tripod first and see if I have a good use of it. Moreover, I got one very genius thing called Zeikos lens cap keeper that will save my nerves:) I'm loosing my lens cap every time I use my Nikon:)))

All things I bought are not a mandatory for the course! Even DSLR camera is not a mandatory but preferable :))

NYIP first impression...

Just recently I received my very 1st Unit of this awesome course! I love glossy textbooks and great audio CDs. Despite the fact, that one of my CD didn't work in Itunes (I think it defected CD or something, cause all other couse CD worked) I still love the course. I've e-mailed NYIP support to get a new CD or download link for the audio from CD, will see what they say. It's worth to mention that NYIP teach both film and digital photography. I was surprised a bit when opened a DVD. It was cool to watch but you can see the action was recorded somewhere in 90s or early 2000s I guess. They showed professional photographers field trips and how they used their film SLR...I think you can skip those if you dont like it but I watched.

I have not signed my enrollment agreement just yet but I definitely will very soon. Just waiting for my HS Diploma transcript so I can send them all together.

About bonuses. You get them when you pay in full. They may differ depending on current promotion. I got black tote bag with NYIP logo (great for my photography stuff) and I'm proud to display that I'm a student of NYIP. Also I got nice reflectors (3-in-1 white, silver, gold), monopod, flash drive 8gb, and lenses cleansing tissue). There were some other items i got like Professional Photographs Log and Reference guide (I found it to be very useful for future), Freelance Opportunities booklet, numerous letters, schedule and other stuff that can guide me where to start. And the last thing is my Unit 1 Project kit. In NYIP all project photographs are submitted in printed form. Some people might NOT like it but as instructors say...we all have different monitors and we might not see the same picture you see on your display...It's ok with me. They even give a few professional places where you can print you photos..). And I didn't say about audio....you listen for audio tracks and they tell you whenever you need to read your textbook..)) isn't it cool?

The button line: very few problems, everything is clear, I know every step I have to do in my studying. LOVE IT!

NYIP Professional Photography Course

Yesterday I signed up for Professional Photography Course at New York Institute of Photography. I'm so exited! I've been thinking to enroll for a few weeks now! I did it!

It suppose to be a very cool home based course with a lot of glossy magazines, course materials, CDs, etc. Every student should get a personal adviser to keep in touch with. Also all photo projects will be send to school for reviews! I love when experienced people say what's good and what's bad about my photographs:) This is the best way to learn!

Will tell more about the course once I receive my welcome kit and start to learn!
